The band had a great showing placing 11th out of 16 bands. This means that the Wildcat band is the 11th best 2A band in the state of Kentucky. The band continues each year to get better and better. The band would like to thank all of the people that made this possible. As soon as we get the list together, we will announce a special thanks to several people and businesses that gave donations of time, money and other items. Yeah Band!! 10/13/07 - The Wildcat Band made school history today by advancing to the state marching competition. We have not received an official itinerary for the competition on Saturday, but the one that is posted should be pretty close. The band boosters meeting that was scheduled for this past Tuesday night has been moved to Tuesday, October 16, 2007. We hope to be making plans for the state competition at this meeting. Friday night will be the last time that the senior band members will be performing in Wildcat Stadium, so lets all work together and make sure that the parents of the seniors are not trapped in the concession stand during the performance. We look forward to seeing everyone Friday, Saturday, and Tuesday. Good luck Wildcat Band. Yeah Band!! 10/2/07 - We've got two weeks worth of updates to give to you. On September 22, 2007, the Wildcat band went to the Hancock County Marching Festival. The band came away with Best Color Guard and 2nd place overall in class AA. This past Saturday was a big (and long) day for the band. The competition double-header began in Madisonville at the Hopkins County Central Storm Classic. This was the largest AA competition that the band competed in this season with 5 bands in their class. The Wildcats came away with Best Color Guard and 2nd place overall in class AA. The band then loaded up and went to Russellville for the Logan County Festival of Bands. The band finished with Best Color Guard and 2nd place overall in AA. The Color Guard went undefeated this season winning top honors in all 5 competitions. The band did a wonderful job by placing either 1st or 2nd at every competition. Also, the band set a school record at the Logan county competition by achieving an overall score of 71.02. Until the Logan County competition, the band had not received a score over 70 before, so this was a wonderful success for Wildcat band. The band now has a well-deserved Saturday off before competing in the Regional competition on October 13, 2007 at Hart County High School. The band appreciates all of your support, especially the parents and former band members who were able to travel with the band and assist with props, setup and anything else that needed to be done. We would also like to thank Mr. West for all of the time and effort that he gives to the band. It is all of us working together to support the band that gives them the confidence to do their best and continue to grow and improve not just in band, but in life as ladies and gentlemen. We look forward to seeing everyone at Regionals. 9/16/07 - The Wildcat band has worked very hard since last weeks competition at Caverna and it really showed Saturday night. The Wildcat band had a great night at the South Central KY Marching Band Classic in Glasgow on Saturday. The band won Best Color Guard and First Place overall in class 2A. The band also received the required score to compete at the regional competition in October. Way to go Wildcats. The band would like to thank all for the volunteers that helped with the props and setup, as well as provided food for everyone. Over the past week, the band acquired some new props to include in our field show and if it wasn't for all of the volunteers, we would not have been able to use them this Saturday. We would like to thank Eugene Costello for making the journey to pick-up the props so we would have them for this show. There are photos from the show on the website, as well as Directions for Saturday's show in Hancock County. Once again, thank all of the volunteers and congratulations to the band for a spectacular performance. 9/9/07 - The Wildcat band had a good night at the Caverna Band Festival on Saturday. The band competed in class 2A against 3 other band. The Wildcats walked away with best Color Guard and 2nd place in the 2A division. The band performed very well and look forward to an even better performance at Glasgow this Saturday. We would like to thank all of the parents and volunteers that helped with the wonderful food and other jobs that were needed. We could not do it without you. 8/30/07 - There will be a special election for Treasurer at the next band booster's meeting on September 11, 2007. Barry and Brenda Conley are resigning from the office due to circumstances that no longer allow them to give the proper time to keep up with the booster accounts. If you are interested in holding this position or know of someone that might be, please email Mr. West and let him know of your interest and any experience that would help with this type of office. The band's first competition is Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Caverna High School. An itinerary and directions to the school are listed on the competition schedule page. This is one of the closest competitions that the band competes in, so this would be a good chance for friends and family to see the exciting new field show. Parents that are interested in helping out with chaperoning or setting up for the competition, please contact Mr. West and we will gladly find a place for you. Thank you for your support. The band really appreciates all that you do. 8/19/07 - The band would like to thank all of the volunteers that came out to the "work day" this past Saturday. We were able to get a lot accomplished in the time that we spent. We were able to get most of the props completed and everything cleaned up and ready for competition. The next band boosters meeting is set for September 11, 2007 in the band room at 6:30pm. We would like to thank anyone who has provided photos for our web site and would ask that if you have some that you still have not sent in, please do so. We are in the process of scanning annuals for the "Bands of the Past" page, but we would greatly appreciate any other photos that you can provide. We have a scanner and your photos will be returned to you. We would like this site to honor the history of the Wildcat band. We have acquired a photo of the first Wildcat Band in 1975 and we have it posted on the website. Thanks again for all of your support. We look forward to seeing you in the future. 7/30/07 - The band would like to say a special thank you to the Costello family for building a storage shed underneath the tower on the practice field. The added storage will make it easier for the band to set up because it allows them to store some equipment that is needed for practice at the practice field instead of having to move the equipment multiple times each day. Just a reminder, the next Band Boosters meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 8/14/07 at 6:30pm in the band room. The Wildcat Band had a very successful 2007 Band Camp and are looking forward to getting the marching season started. 7/14/07 - If anyone has any group photos or competition photos of previous ECHS bands, we would appreciate if you could email a copy to Mr. West. We would like to update the "Bands of the Past" page as far back as we can go with as many years of ECHS bands we can get. If there are any parents who were in the ECHS band when you were in school, we would like those photos as well. We want this page to honor everyone that has ever been a part of the Edmonson County Wildcat Band. Don't forget that Band Camp starts Monday at 8:00am. Have a great weekend. 7/9/07 - The next band boosters meeting will be held at 6:30pm in the band room. We would like all of the parents that are able to attend to come and join us. If you have a young lady or gentleman in the band, you are a booster, even if you do not come to the meetings. You may think that you do not have the time to help, but there are many things that you can do to help the boosters. Just remember that everything that we do is for the kids. The more parents that help, the more we can do for the kids. Even though they may not act like it sometimes, every kid likes to know that their parents are interested in what they do and these kids work very hard to accomplish what they do. Last year the band had the best year in school history. Let's help make this year even better. We look forward to seeing you there. |
