Ways to help

The Edmonson County High School band continues to improve year after year.  Anyone who has purchased an instrument knows that it takes money to have the proper equipment for a competitive band.  The school board provides funds in the budget each year for some activities, but the bulk of funds that are used for marching season and concert season comes from the efforts of the students and the band boosters.  There is a lot of work involved, especially during marching season.  Even if you could only come to a few booster meetings and offer ideas or if you can work the concession stand for one game, any thing that you can do will help the band.  There are many ways that you can help:

Working in a Football concession stand

q       Working in a Basketball concession stand

q       Marching Band pit crew – setting up equipment on Saturday competitions

q       Set-up & unloading crew  - when we arrive at marching band competitions

q       Supervise the students while changing  into uniforms before competitions

q       Assist with various fundraisers

q       Help fit and maintain band uniforms

q       Help fit and maintain color guard uniforms

q       Sewing and maintaining guard flags

q       Sewing and maintaining various props for Marching band.

q       Construction crew – Marching band props, band tower, etc.

q       Cleaning and setting up the concession stand areas.

q       Food  - organizing the feeding of the band at some competitions

q       Calling and organizing other parents to volunteer

q       Helping organize the 2008-2009 band banquet

q       Chaperoning marching band trips

q       Driving our equipment bus to competitions (CDL required)

q       Driving our student busses on various trips (CDL required)

q       Chaperoning concert band/other trips

It doesn't matter if you can come to all of the competitions or work the concession stand just one time, every little bit helps the band and helping the band achieve their goals is the sole purpose of the band boosters.  Even if your child is only beginning in 6th grade band, any work that you help with now will only make the band stronger for when they get to high school.
